ive been amazed at how people dont bike even if they live downtown here. i am stubborn in my do stuff for free committments. but i think this explains it. more interesting to optimize the taco price and drive the expensive car there.

I think I can get behind most of what you're saying about the elasticity of austin but also I think austin is still ahead of the price/value curve in comparison to most other cities. and maybe this is a personal take, but the best stuff in austin is the cheapest stuff in austin - aka the expensive stuff is bullshit. a $2 taco from rositas is better than a $7 torchys or veracruz taco anyday.

but also 100% true on the round rock/leander/cedarpark indian cesspool comment - will never venture there unless I want real indian food. and by which point I might as well drive to dallas lol

where do you $2 tacos in Austin these days? I’ve not found these spots, Im sure they exist. Even the random gas station taco place near me that costs $5 per taco
